Caring for our precious planet is at the heart of Poolside Gossip and we are committed to being as sustainable and accountable as we can at each stage of our cycle. We live in a time where we make more, use less and throwaway more and Poolside Gossip exists to counter this; from our design and materials to our way of doing business, we are joining the growing number of fashion brands challenging what and how we consume.
We are the antithesis to fast-fashion and our pieces are designed to last, through our focus on being less led by trends and the quality of our cut and materials. The collection evolves organically and the majority of the pieces are made with Vita by Carvico, a sustainable fabric that uses Econyl, a regenerated nylon. Our supply chain for materials is based in the UK or Europe, even if that has meant a price premium, to us.
Our unique Made-to-Order model also means that we only make what you, our customers, really want and allows us to offer individual and personal advice which keeps waste and returns to a minimum. (This doesn’t mean you can’t return your pieces if you’re not 100% happy).
Working in this way also enables us to support our community with production kept locally. Naturally our local London factory has thorough working ethical, equality and diversity documented policies and our other main suppliers operate fairly, openly and without discrimination.
We’re not there yet, although our ambitions and efforts were recognised by the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards and we were Finalists in their inaugural year. We know we’ve a way to go but we’re determined to be a fully sustainable and ethically responsible business and will continue to evolve how, who and what we work with until we get there.
Thanks for reading. Now enough serious chat….and back to the pool.
